Yellowing between the veins on young leaves is observed. Some plant leaves develop yellow spots and patches. Particularly eggplant, along with beans, onions, peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, sugar beets, potatoes, cotton, apples, cherries, and citrus fruits, are the most sensitive species to manganese deficiency.

Manganese ions activate essential enzymes within plant cells. It is an important micronutrient that regulates water movement in plants, expands leaf surface, increases photosynthesis and fruit set, and contributes to fruit coloration.
